Role Overview

We are seeking a Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist to join our Applied AI team in building the next generation of AI-powered investment tools. You will work on cutting-edge research projects that directly impact how portfolio managers, analysts, and researchers leverage AI in their daily workflows. This role requires a strong background in machine learning, and a passion for seeing your research deployed to thousands of users in production.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong publication record in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP)
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, with a focus on natural language processing (NLP), reinforcement learning (RL) or related areas
  • Experience developing and evaluating ML models in Python (PyTorch)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate research into practical, scalable solutions
  • Strong programming skills and familiarity with modern software engineering practices

Preferred Qualifications

We’re looking for a founding CTO to architect and lead our AI platform, bringing together multi-agent systems, real-time data pipelines, and frontier models (LLMs, graph AI, digital twins). You’ll set the technical roadmap, build and scale the core engineering team, and shape NRGCO’s product into a category-defining resilience platform.

What will you do: 

  • Technology Strategy & Architecture: (i) Define and lead the technical vision and roadmap of the company’s AI platform. (ii) Architect a scalable, secure, and high-performance AI/ML infrastructure for large-scale enterprise deployment. (iii) Oversee the development of a unified data model, model-driven architecture, and reusable microservices architecture

In this role you will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive software and systems architecture to support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Drive innovation in the application of generative AI platforms, including NLP, industry and domain-specific models, and workflows tailored to the unique needs of our clients.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of software engineering systems to support data analysis, modeling activities, and AI development.
  • Closely collaborate with organization leadership to align engineering systems, features, and capabilities to both the product and technology strategies: ensuring seamless integration of cutting-edge technology into product development and innovation processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to drive business value and inform decision-making.
  • Engage directly in software development activities and other activities needed to implement the technology strategy and architecture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience ( 7+ years) in software architecture and personally building digital products from early-stage through to scaling and maturity, displaying proactive leadership and problem-solving skills. 
  • Deep knowledge of full-stack modern development practices (ex: DevOps, APIs) and practical application of knowledge in product development.
  • Ability to think strategically, holistically, and architecturally about how generative AI and predictive analytics can be used to drive business value, with relentless focus on the end customer and how we are solving their problems.
  • Possesses strong business acumen, capable of making decisions that align with the broader business context and requirements. 
  • Comfortable collaborating, debating, and committing to decisions with colleagues and leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

What We’d Also Love to Find 

  • Expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques, with hands-on experience building, training, fine-tuning, and deploying predictive models, including transformer-based LLMs.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets, and knowledge of data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years managing, mentoring, and inspiring engineering teams. 
  • Previous oversight of department budget, with clear objectives, results, and aligned budget and project progress.
