YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Scientist Postdoc, are to: 

• Be an active member of a highly interdisciplinary and cross-organizational team;
• Stay current with the fast-paced innovation in machine learning applied to the analysis of biomolecules, with a focus on modelling the “language of life”;
• Collaboratively develop a high-quality toolkit for data processing and machine learning of biomolecular data;
• Come up with new ideas, own and pursue a research agenda to carry out long-running projects;
• Conceive, execute and evaluate models and experiments, interpret the results and present them in various cross functional meetings;
• Help other researchers use machine learning in their daily discovery activities;
• Work in collaboration with peers located in the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health Divisions;
• Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing, open source code and engaging with the scientific community.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience or Master’s degree with at least two years of experience or Ph.D.;
• Educational preparation or applied experience in at least one of the following areas, Machine Learning, Electrical/Industrial Engineering, Operation Research, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or other related quantitative discipline;
• Profound experience with state-of-the-art advanced mathematical models, machine learning methods and model selection concepts;
• Excellent programming and software engineering skills in Python;
• Proficiency in writing code and experience in cloud computing;
• Highly creative, independent, fast-learning person with outstanding problem-solving ability and the willingness to undertake challenging analysis tasks autonomously and in a timely fashion;
• A sincere interest for biology and the life sciences;
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams;
• Willingness to travel between research sites domestically and globally;
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
• This role has a limited duration of 24 months.

• Participate in back-end development and maintenance of related businesses, products and services;
• Understand the business requirements in depth, manufacture according to product requirements and technical requirements. Develop technical programmes, project plans and implement them according to the programmes
• Analyze and solve problems in the development process;
• Collaborate with other members of the project team to work with the project manager to accomplish relevant task objectives.

Requirements

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or other related discipline or equivalent, with more than 2 years’ experience in Java development
• Solid Java foundation, familiar with common design patterns, open-source frameworks such as spring/mybatis/hibernate, proficient in Linux operating system, experience in caching mechanism and message queue
• Familiar with relational/non-relational databases
• Familiar with database/Webservice/RESTful/MQ interface development, experience in actual business system interface development preferred
• Familiar with docker and ansible
• Experience in HIS, PACS, LIS, RIS medical information system preferred
• Have good coding habits, patience in communication, high enthusiasm, and willing to take on short-term business trips

Role responsibilities
As a member of the Advanced Digital Solutions team, the primary focus and responsibilities will be to deliver tangible value and advance the digital agenda across the enterprise by accelerating effective use of AI.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Serving as results-oriented AI solutions expert to address critical business needs in partnership with business teams, digital team members and technology. This includes leading the design and delivery of proofs of concept as required.

• An AI practitioner with hands-on experience in leading the design and deployment of machine learning solutions
• Experience building supervised and un-supervised learning models (time series , NLP and others) with classical and deep learning frameworks  such as Tensorflow/Keras, Pytorch, scikit-learn and python/numpy/pandas.
• Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Develop ML and statistical models for multiple business units.
• Able to work across businesses and functions at all levels and to communicate with senior stakeholders
• Proficiency in using query languages and databases
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to deal well with uncertainty and unstructured problems to be solved
• Able to lead ad-hoc and structured teams for achieving goals within established time parameters
