We are looking for an experienced AI engineer with a passion for working with real hardware to join happy droid’s engineering team. You will be leading the effort of bringing physical intelligence to our products.

The candidate has a creative and practical mindset, with demonstrated experience training and deploying RL policies to robots. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who inspire and support a team, while also being able to independently drive their own work.

Core expertise should include building robot and actuator models, designing rewards, training and deploying RL policies, and analyzing data to close the sim2real gap. We need people who are detail-oriented while maintaining a strong view of the bigger picture. The ability to break down complex problems, define requirements, and prioritize work effectively will be key to success at happy droid.

As a Research Scientist in World Models, you will develop algorithms and productionize the next generation of World Models that can reason about complex, dynamic 4D environments.

This role focuses on large-scale world models for temporal reasoning and generation, including video models, multimodal generative models, LLM/VLM/VLA models, and predictive models of traffic participants and scenes. Your work will directly power Waabi World’s ability to model future evolution, synthesize realistic safety-critical scenarios, and provide rich generative priors for downstream planning, testing, and training.

The US yearly salary range for this role is: $155,000 - $269,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi World depends on accurate, scalable, and efficient reconstruction of the 3D/4D physical world from real-world sensor data. As a Research Scientist in Neural Reconstruction, you will develop the next generation of neural scene-representation and reconstruction algorithms that transform sparse, noisy, and partially observed driving data into realistic and controllable digital worlds.

This role focuses on 3D/4D neural reconstruction and rendering, including 3DGS/NeRF, neural scene representation, and generalizable reconstruction models. Your work will directly power Waabi World’s ability to build high-fidelity scene assets, recover geometry and dynamics from sensor data, and support realistic simulation and rendering at scale.

The Motion Planning team delivers the core module within the autonomy stack that makes decisions and generates trajectories for our self-driving trucks. As a research scientist working on Learnable Planner, you will invent new AI technologies that support scalable planning solutions enabling our launch of fully driverless autonomous trucks. You will contribute towards Waabi's vision of a single AI system that learns end-to-end and in a provably safe manner as well as our revolutionary high-fidelity, closed-loop simulator, Waabi World.

You will...
- Design and execute on a research agenda for deep-learning based motion planning for self-driving.
- Leverage and advance the state-of-the-art in robotics and machine learning to enable safe self-driving at scale, with advanced techniques in imitation and reinforcement learning, planning and search, perception and prediction, simulation, foundation models and more.
- Support deploying solutions to our production systems, collaborating closely with platform teams to ensure seamless integration of research findings into production systems.

- Experience in planning/decision making approaches (e.g., imitation learning, reinforcement learning, optimal control, optimization based approaches, search methods, probabilistic decision making).
- Demonstrated research experience through previous internships, work experience, research projects, and papers at top conferences.
- Strong quantitative background and coursework in or working knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, and probability.
- Proficient in reading and coding in Python.
- Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.

The Behaviors team at Waabi develops cutting-edge simulation agents and scenario generation algorithms for Waabi World, our simulation platform. Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) (a company found by Hari Balakrishnan and me) is looking to hire folks to help train a new foundation model over sensor data. We serve millions of drivers and log billions of trips, generating petabytes of high-fidelity time-series data. We’re pretraining a self-supervised, multimodal time-series foundation model on this corpus to learn transferable representations for crash prediction, anomaly detection, and other driver-safety tasks. This is a novel type of foundation model, so we need to answer a number of fundamental questions. We're looking for someone to help us address core modeling choices—designing pretraining objectives, improving contrastive/masked tasks, and shaping evaluation—and ship a model that runs globally. Skyline Nav AI, Inc. is a well-funded, commercially successful scale-up focused on revolutionizing visual navigation technology as an alternative to GPS, for our commercial and military customers. We are seeking highly motivated and hungry recent graduates (Bachelor's/Master's/PhD's) who are passionate about computer vision, drones, robotics and AI to join our team.

As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and productionizing computer vision algorithms and machine learning models to help our technology achieve high-accuracy visual navigation. This includes developing new algorithms, as well as optimizing existing methods for real-time use on edge-devices such as aerial and ground robots, and building the next generation of robotics platforms.

Requirements:

1. Candidate must be a US citizen, eligible for US Department of Defense Security Clearance

2. B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

3. Strong programming skills in Python and C++

4. Proficient working with computer vision and machine learning concepts
