Computer Vision Intern
Location
Remote/NYC
Job Type
Internship

Interested in early stage startups and in revolutionizing the fashion industry with technology? Arête is looking for a Computer Vision (CV) Intern! Arête is launching a basic version of the product in the app store in early January, has 25 brand partners, a core team of 8, and an expansive waitlist. We are early stage but building quickly!

What is Arête?

Arête's vision is to not only empower authenticity and inspire confidence through tech-enabled fashion but to entirely revolutionize the user experience in the fashion e-commerce sector. By harnessing the power of AI, we are designing a hyper-personalized virtual stylist and connecting small to medium-sized designers with the shoppers most excited about their products.

We do this by catering to the unique needs of each individual user and curating outfits based on a user's location, occasion, emotion, and budget. Our AI model learns a user's body shape, complexion, and stylistic preferences, enabling it to curate the perfect outfits using (i) the clothing in a users' closet and (ii) net new items available for purchase on our platform.

But what's a revolution without disrupting the old order? We recognize that the current marketing channels in fashion are skewed. It's a pay-to-play game where only the brands with the deepest pockets get noticed. This leaves a multitude of undiscovered treasures from small to medium-sized fashion brands. By partnering with these brands, we're not only diversifying our collection but ensuring that users have access to hidden gems that resonate with their style.

What we're looking for

We are looking to bring a Computer Vision (CV) Intern to be part of our founding team. This individual should be pursuing a graduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, with an expertise in Computer Vision. The CV Intern will work closely with our developers to train state of the art models and begin integrating CV into Arête. The CV Lead will oversee the development of an outfit generation system and the automation of the tagging and pairing of outfits based on their images. You will be working closely with our in-house stylists to digest the data we have pretagged and begin training the model. This role will be essential to bringing Arête into the next stage of development and scaling from beta to a full fledged product.

The ideal candidate will be interested in the long term vision of the company, can iterate quickly, is scrappy, and excited to test the limits of CV. The ideal candidate has the opportunity to grow into a leadership role at the Company post internship and would then help to lead the development of a revolutionary technology use case in e-commerce.

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!

But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us!
