Discover & Learn | Collaborate & Engage | Recruit & Grow
CSAIL Alliances membership opens the door to a wide range of benefits designed to help your organization discover new research, collaborate with world-class scientists, and recruit top talent. Explore the highlights below, and email Interim Managing Director Glenn Wong at glennw@mit.edu to learn how membership can work for you.

Conferences, Workshops, and Lectures
Members receive premier access to events both at CSAIL and in the broader MIT community. Come see what’s happening on MIT’s campus.
The CSAIL Alliances Annual Meeting
Once a year, CSAIL Alliances members, CSAIL researchers, and startups convene on campus for a three-day Alliances Annual Meeting. This is a terrific opportunity to build relationships with faculty, students, ventures, and colleagues from an array of companies working on cutting-edge technologies.
Lab Visits and Tours
CSAIL Alliances can arrange private lab visits for members, providing a high-level overview of research projects and the opportunity to connect in depth with researchers and students.
Professional Programs
CSAIL Alliances members get the best prices on CSAIL and MIT professional workshops and programs—both online and in person—designed to deepen technical understanding of emerging technologies and upskill your workforce. Browse the list of professional programs.
Exclusive Content
Through curated communications and digital resources, members stay informed about what’s happening at MIT CSAIL, share in the momentum of cutting-edge research, and showcase leadership. Sign up for our newsletter to receive monthly content like our podcast, researcher spotlights, virtual lab tours, research to reality stories, member case studies, and more.

Sponsored Research
Directly engage with CSAIL scientists working in your field on problems for which there are no commercial solutions. While you do not have to be a member to initiate a sponsored research agreement, most companies work through Alliances to identify researchers in the right subject area whose bandwidth aligns with your timeline and needs.
Research Initiatives
CSAIL Alliances Initiatives give members a seat at the scientific table, inviting them into the process of creating new technology. Formed around a specific topic area (like Machine Learning or FinTech), research initiatives pool funding for maximum impact and participating members vote on how that funding is allocated.
Visiting Industry Researcher Program
This program allows industry researchers to join a CSAIL research group and work alongside MIT CSAIL faculty and students. Bring your challenges to CSAIL, join our community of problem-solvers, and broaden the pool of CSAIL expertise with your specific industry insights.
Open Source
Our researchers love to share their work, which is why CSAIL Alliances keeps a running database of the open source tools and technologies coming out of MIT CSAIL. There might already be a tool to break through your biggest industry obstacle, and if not, there might be one on the way. Access this and other online benefits through a member-specific portal on our website.

Student Engagement
CSAIL is home to some of the brightest students in the world. Members can introduce students to the challenges they're working on and build brand recognition in the lab through technical talks, PhD round-tables, special recruiting events, and networking opportunities. This is an exclusive opportunity, as only CSAIL Alliances members may host recruiting events or industry talks in the lab.
Startup Engagement
Early-stage startups plug directly into CSAIL’s innovation engine through two distinct CSAIL Alliances programs—CSAIL Startup Connect and CSAIL Startup Connect Plus. Alliances members can connect with founders and ventures in multiple ways, like fireside chats on campus, the Annual Meeting startup showcase, our Startup Success Journey, and other opportunities throughout the year. Participating companies not only support research innovation but also contribute to a thriving ecosystem of future-focused trailblazers at MIT CSAIL and beyond.
