WB Technology seeks a Director for the Emerging Technology department. Want to contribute to the future of entertainment through technology? Do you love Batman, Wonder Woman and “The Big Bang Theory” as much as you love playing with new technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual and mixed reality, and drones? Want to be part of a team assessing the impact of emerging technologies?

Warner Bros is leading the way in employing technology to create the future of entertainment. You will constantly on the lookout for the latest and best technology to further our brands, characters and worlds. You’ll get to play with the coolest new tech, and align emerging technology with business strategy Studio-wide. You will design and prototype some of these new technologies. You will help inspire the implementation of new production and distribution technologies in support of all the divisions of WB.


Maintain current knowledge of trends in technologies and explore the ‘new and the next’ in artificial intelligence related technologies knowing them inside and out to use them in Warner Bros. businesses. This will involve building prototypes in the technology area with relevant tools.

Maintain current knowledge of technologies and be the resident expert providing reports of your exploration to the supervisor for review and further distribution to the divisions. These may include:

       -Machine learning and related algorithms applied to various areas of recommendations, predictions and prescriptive analytics, optimizations, classifications, clustering, and

       -Deep learning with object recognition derived from computer vision and natural language processing (via videos and script metadata).

       -Data science based methods to automate learning; use of probabilistic reasoning and uncertainty management to maximize confidence in solutions.

       -Designing and implementing natural language interactions and conversational AI that provide intelligent user assistance.

       -Participate in identifying and create patent applications for novel technology and business ideas.

       -Acts as a liaison between other groups within WB to offer technology knowledge of artificial intelligence; work with technical colleagues to establish system specifications for the
        implementation (including test and acceptance criteria).

       -Assist in developing service agreements, work contracts with partners and/or vendors to drive emerging technology projects. Manage vendors and projects, ensure timely deliveries
        within the planned scope and budget.

       -Meets with companies regarding new products/technologies and performs due diligence on technologies that may be potentially used by Warner Bros. or its licensees.


BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent required; MS or MBA preferred.

Minimum 8 + years of technology experience including engineering production design and implementation Experience researching data discrepancies and issues.

Minimum 4 + years of experience leading engineering and software teams.

Minimum 1 + years of experience with machine learning.

Solid programming experience with one or more of R, Java, Scala, or Python.

Experience designing and implanting software using AI system and machine libraries such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Theano NuPic, etc.

Knowledge of trends in AI technologies such as robotics, autonomous vehicle, bots, IoT and industry-specific AI (e.g. finance, health, security, retail).

You should have a real passion for quality and own the solution, whether it fails or flies. You will be expected to take risks and try hard things and learn from mistakes.

You must have strength of character to believe in and advocate your projects.

You should manifest a gravitas to inspire confidence for your team and the divisions.

You must be a problem solver. You will work in areas where very few of your peers understand the technology area or the way you are trying to apply it to the business of entertainment. You need strong and practical techniques to move beyond an impasse.

You must have the ability to make understandable the impact of emerging technologies upon business for a non-technical audience.

You will need to quickly learn new areas such as immersive media (VR, AR, MR), robotics, IoT and connected cars.

Ability to get the best performance out of vendors, contractors, personnel in other WB departments and effectively relate to colleagues in other companies.

Strong project management experience and ability to collaborate with colleagues across different disciplines and locations to achieve results.

You should be completely reliability; someone the team can count on.

Flexible schedule – position requires about 20-25% world-wide travel, and may require responding to customer calls on off-hours as needed.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels.

Must be able to reason through issues and resolve problems.

Must be a team player.

Must be flexible.

Must be detail-oriented.

Must have excellent time management skills to perform in a fast-paced, high pressure, high volume environment.

Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and work with constant interruptions.
